Remember the old films where they cook over the fire? you can do just that with a special chestnut roaster and that special toasting fork for toast or mouth watering marsh mallows. (Please remember that these can only be used over a real fire and not a gas or electric one).
A compact hearth tidy set, comprises of sturdy shovel and brush to keep the hearth area clean. The shovel could also be used to put coal from the coal skuttle onto the fire. It is possible to purchase a separate set of tongs, there are a wide variety of fireside tongs available such as log tongs which that make easy work of moving logs. These are particularly helpful where the logs are quite dirty.
Fireside Pokers can be bought separately we do recommend a poker with a log roller already on it. Match holders are a good way to store longer matches available in a similar style and colour to the other fireplace accessories. You may also consider keeping fire bellows nearby to give the flames a boost when necessary.
