What is a Fireplace Fender?
Fire Fenders or Hearth Fenders mark and delineate the boundary between the edge of the outer hearth and the floor. The Fire fender serves two purposes, firstly, the fire fenders provide a small raised vertical lip or edge around the hearth, which acts as a safety boundary that catches any falling debris from the fire, and stops it reaching the floor area. This safety boundary function could work equally to stop things falling into the hearth / fire.
Fire fenders provide a decorative trim to the hearth area making it more aesthetically pleasing. Hearths differ in size, therefore we generally supply custom made fire fenders made as a bespoke item.
