You only have to use a real fire in your home for a short period of time to realise why coal bunkers are such a good idea. They provided a safe, dry store away from the house for coal, and hold large quantities of fuel. Small single 15Kg bags of coal bought from the local garage forcourt can be expensive whereas on site coal storage at home means that your merchant can deliver 50kg bags of coal direct to your coal bunker, that can accommodate up to 500 kg of fuel storage. Larger bulk deliveries are cheaper, and having a large store of coal in a coal bunker in the garden means that less frequent purchases are needed.

Coal bunkers allow you to be better prepared for prolonged periods of cold, when garage forecourts can quickly sell out of coal. A coal bunker is an investment that can save you money over time and make sure you’re warm throughout the winter. No longer a thing of the past – concrete or rusting Coal bunkers are being replaced by new high performance rotationally moulded plastic bunkers from Harlequin Oil tanks, that are rigid, durable already assembled, UV resistant so they stay looking good and are recyclable after their 20 year plus life expectancy.

Flat pack galvanized coal bunkers that come complete with a solid base, are also available. These self assembly metal coal bunkers are quick and easy to build with easy to follow instructions. Both types of coal bunker are sturdy, safe, durable and strong, incorporating features like deflectors to stop coal building up against the door, and the ability to replace locking pins with padlocks for increased security. Ironside Galvanised Bunker - Detailed Description

The Ironside is the 'middle-size' in our range of bunkers. It is made from galvanised steel (22 /24g)and supplied flat-packed. As with all our galvinised coal bunkers it has an extremely solid base a hinged lid and features a small door on the front face to allow easy access to your fuel. Above the door is a 'deflector' which prevents the build-up of coals against the door. This product is designed for everyday use so is strong robust and highly durable.

Please note the capacity (250kg 4.9 cwt) is based on ordinary domestic coal other fuels do vary in size so it is best to contact your fuel supplier with the dimensions of this bunker to clarify how much of the fuel you use it will take. Please note -- Bunkers are self assembly and easily put together. We would advise the following -----always ensure all the seams are locked together correctly when assembling your bunker .If the ends of the seams are flattened during transit please open them with a screwdriver for easier assembly.The seams slide tightly into each other to ensure the bunker does not bulge open when filled with fuel.
