Log Baskets are the ideal solution for storing your logs indoors next to your open fire or wood burning stove.
When burning wood It’s a great idea to store a dry supply of logs in a dry out building. Taking the evenings supply of logs from the main log storage in a log carrier and keeping them next to the fireplace in a log basket is an important practical consideration.
Traditional log baskets are woven with wicker which a material of organic origin such as the core of cane or rattan stalks, or whole stems of willow or reed. Not all material is suitable weaving wicker log baskets, , willow with colourful bark such as reds, purples and oranges is often preferred. Like all organic structural material the willow needs to be satisfactorily dried, causing the bark to wrinkle slightly. Components parts of a log basket include spokes that are the straight sticks that radiate from the centre of the base of the log basket. When turned upwards at the side of the log basket spokes become warp, the willow that is woven through the warp forming the side of the log basket is called the weft.
