To create a template for your new bespoke ash pan, just place the grate upside down on a piece of card and draw around the outside, mark where the legs of the grate are, and note the required height. Send the template to the fireside shop and your bespoke ash pan will be in place within four weeks. It is not expensive and it could save you years of extra cleaning caused by having the wrong ash pan for your grate (and fret).
